About The Organization

The Christian Prayer Breakfast, Fort Worth-Tarrant County, representing business and community leadership in the Fort Worth/Tarrant County metroplex, meets annually for the purpose of praying for our cities, our nation and our leaders.

Additonally, an inspiring lay speaker is invited to strengthen and encourage our faith in Christ. Similar prayer breakfasts are held in other cities all over the nation. All are invited to participate in the Spirit of Christ.

The Christian Prayer Breakfast Fort Worth-Tarrant County is a registered 501(c)3 organization and, while not affiliated with any other organization, is similar to events held in many other cities across our nation and around the world. It is an all-volunteer organization.

Our History
After attending a prayer breakfast event in Dallas in 1986, Mr. Bill Garrison gathered several Fort Worth businessmen to discuss the possibility of beginning a similar annual prayer breakfast in Fort Worth. Their desire was to gather together a large group of community leaders from all walks of life to pray for our leaders at the local, state and national level. At the same time they realized an opportunity to provide an inspirational and challenging message from someone who had prioritized their faith and family in an exemplary way while making a significant and notable contribution to public life.

The first Fort Worth Christian Leadership Prayer Breakfast was held in April 1987 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in downtown Fort Worth with former Yankee’s second baseman Bobby Richardson as the keynote speaker. Program participants and speakers have included men and women from various fields of endeavor - business, community involvement, government, sports, and education.

In 1993, the breakfast was moved to the Tarrant County Convention Center, and in 1997 the breakfast moved to The Roundup Inn at the Amon Carter Exhibit Hall in the Fort Worth Cultural District. In 2006, the name of the event was changed to the Christian Prayer Breakfast Fort Worth-Tarrant County to reflect the participation of the larger community in the breakfast.

The breakfast has grown from several hundred in attendance to over a thousand. In an attempt to avoid religious or denominational preferences, all of those who have participated in the program and the members of the sponsoring Board of Directors have been laypersons from a broad variety of backgrounds. What knitted them together was a willingness to share the vital impact of their personal faith in Jesus Christ.
